Description: Malus pumila (Apple fruit) is a member of the Rose Family (Rosaceae). The wild ancestor of the domestic apple originated in the mountains of central Asia. Apples have been grown in Europe for thousands of years. There are currently more than 7,500 different cultivated types of apples known.* This textile image is of the fruit of the apple tree.
